“If I could give them more stars, I would!
We went in to get what we needed to build a raised bed. They had everything we needed and they even cut things to size for us! Super helpful and friendly folks in the office and in the yard.”

A Full Service Lumberyard
Economy Lumber Piedmont is a vestige of another era — the local, neighborhood lumberyard.
After nearly 75 years of family operation, we were able to purchase the venerable site, retain all its employees and breath new life into the diminutive yard, located in the heart of residential North Oakland. Without skipping a beat, Economy Lumber Piedmont was able to maintain, even enhance, its relationship with its long time customers and the community it serves.
There are many ‘‘period’ homes in the surrounding community and Economy Lumber - Piedmont carries several moldings and casings that reflect the style of the ‘Arts and Crafts’ and ‘Craftsman’ homes that populate the area.
As part of Economy Lumber, the Piedmont yard offers a full-service array of lumber, molding, building materials and hardware along with a very convenient location. The yard is relatively small, but over the decades it has developed a system that utilizes every square inch of the property. This compact hardware store contains a surprisingly wide assortment of the items contractors and homeowners depend on to get the job done.
Need a large engineered beam? As part of the Economy Lumber family, the Piedmont yard can draw from our larger High Street yard’s stock, getting the lumber or other building material into the customer’s hands in short order.
Sometimes, good things do come in small packages.
